Welcome to the Dental Hub part of my blog. Here I hope to have quick answers to question some mommies may have to their littles ones dentition. I am  planning over the next couple of weeks to have some blog posts  focused on the dental health of our little ones.

Below are a few tips to help prevent tooth decay in children. If you have any questions or you would like me to focus on a paticular aspect of dental and oral health please drop me an email to noniesblog@gmail.com.

     Tips to prevent dental decay

Choose water or milk throughout the day. However do not give your little one milk before bed.

Be mindful of yogurts and yougurt drinks, often seen as the healthy option but they can be full of sugar.

Be cautious with sports drinks, they are packed with sugar. Water is best especially if a sportsgaurd is being worn.

Packaging doesn’t always mention sugar. Look out for words that end in ‘ose’ such as fructose, sucrose and glucose. Even if they are naturally occurring sugars they can still be damaging.

Drinks that say ‘no added sugar’ don’t necessarily mean no sugar as they may be high in natural sugars

Pure fruit juice and smoothies can have other health benefits, but they can be high in sugar so restrict them to mealtimes and only have a small (150 ml) glass per day.

Supervise brushing until your child is about eight.

Make sure your child brushes their teeth twice a day morning and evening
