Summer is here (sort of) and if you're anything like me you love to see the sun shining and feeling its warmth on your skin but sun exposure can be harmful to you and your little ones even on cloudy days, so wheater doing a staycation or goin abroad it's important to stay sun smart. Below is a list of sun smart tips and a few of my must have summer products.
Sunscreen
Use a sunscreen that protects against uva and uvb and is a minimum of spf 30. Apply it to dry skin 20-30 minutes before going outside and reapply as needed. Sunscreen is not always easy to apply to active toddlers so some brands offer coloured sunscreens so its easy to see where you might have missed.
Cover up
Wear a hat to reduce the risk of sunstroke for children make sure it has a wide brim to protect their face, neck and ears. Wearing light coloured t-shirts can reflect the suns harmful rays away from you and prevent you from burning. Wear sunglasses that offer good uv protection.
Shade
Obviously on sunny days you want to enjoy the sunshine but it's a good idea to take some time out of the sun. Maybe have your picnic in the shade of a large tree or take a break is a restaurant or cafe.
Hydration
It's easy to become dehydrated in warm weather especially when running around or going for long walks so its important to make sure everyone is getting enough fluids.
Sun protection must haves
This is the Aldi Lacure skincare sunscreen which retails at about 3.49. I love this product it offers 5*uva protection and is easy to apply we all use this in our house.

Green people after sun available from Nourish and retails at about 13.50. What I like about this product is that its non greasy and instantly cools the skin.

No7 protect and perfect advanced facial sun protection available from boots and retails at 21 euro I got mine on offer which was 2 for 25. This product gives 5*uva protection and protects against the ageing effects of the sun. This is a great all rounder you can use it on its own and its also suitable for under your make up.

Uvistat lipscreen available in boots and retails at 8 euro. With skin cancer being the number 1 cancer in Ireland I think its important to be serious about sun protection. Uvistat lipscreen is fragrance free dermatologically tested and is suitable for the whole family. Their is a kids one available which gives an Orange tint again incase you are afraid you may have missed an area.

Summer rayshade, we bought a cheap stroller for littlest bubs for our holidays one that just folds up nice and compact but it doesnt have a hood. So I bought this online for about 15 euros. I think it's a great added extra it offers sun and bug protection and fits most strollers.

So thats my list of tips and sun protection must haves. Have you any tips or summer products you love? Let me know 😊
